Take Main Street to Italy and up the stairs to Spain

May 29, 2008 by Haidee

Who knew that you could explore foreign lands right from a little coffee shop on Main Street? Indeed, you can with Spain on Main and Ecco Italy…

…Christina Ball’s mini language institutes that offer the globally-curious a fun way to experience different countries and cultures from the Main Street Market tower.

On their websites you’ll find a menu classes, events and even travel options. So whether you are planning a trip or just interesting in expanding your cultural palette, the courses and activities sound like fun and would be a great way to meet people.

I came across Spain on Main and Ecco Italy through a google search and was bummed that I couldn’t fit it into my schedule of long work days and other commitments. Many of the classes do take place in the middle of the day during the week, although I see there are some 6:30 options as well.

I intend to check out the Italian courses. My husband and I recently had to cancel our trip to Italy’s lake region, but we now have the opportunity to learn a little bit of the language before we reschedule! Last time I was in Rome, the barrista couldn’t even understand my order for biscotti! I’m not kidding…

Aside from learning a new language and experiencing different cultures, equally exciting to me is the idea that learning doesn’t have to die after grad school. I love that someone passionate about another land has brought her enthusiasm back to our community and is reaching out to teach others. Bravo, Christina! I hope to see you and maybe some of the CvilleStyle readers at one of your courses.
