CvilleStyle Spotlight on Chloe - readers get 10% off

June 23, 2008 by Haidee

CvilleStyle recently met up with Vicky Tay, the new owner of Chloe, one of Cville’s most stylish boutiques offering unique clothing & accessories from selected designers.

Tay hails from NYC, and it is clear that she brings a fresh point of view to this posh boutique. While you shouldn’t expect radical changes, you can look forward to some new lines and an expanded product mix. And one lucky reader can look forward to joining CvilleStyle at an upcoming VIP event hosted by Chloe where you’ll  get a peek at the new lines, access to exclusive sales, as well as cocktails and VIP goodie bag! Read on about the new lines, the CvilleStyle discount, and the contest…

I’ll start with a new addition to the store, LA-based Yaya. This designer has gained in popularity since launching almost 10 years ago and is now distributed in high end department stores like Saks and trendsetting online shops like Lisa Kline. Their summer line boasts lightweight, slinky tops and dresses featuring some incredible details including crocheted accents, like the one in orange below. One of the silky tops features a dreamcatcher design on the open back with some very sexy feathers dangling strategically over the skin.

Another new addition to Chloe is New York-based Zoa. While Ya-ya used vibrant colors, Zoa’s summer line is a bit more subdued using more blues and greys. But you’ll continue to see unique details and lightweight fabrics. I fell in love with their grey silky tank with ruffles.

While introducing different designers to the Cville scene, Tay intends to also introduce more accessories like handbags and jewelry. One fabulous summer accessory that I deem a must-have is the lightweight scarf by Love Quotes, which Chloe has in a rainbow of colors. Added bonus - 10% of the proceeds go to children’s charities. Consider it the new pashmina.

Hayden Harnett, a gorgeous line of handbags, is another new designer in the store.  The leather is couture quality, and the designs are fresh. And, my favorite attribute…the price is right! I am specifically eyeing the adorable little coin purses for gifts.

If you are into the green movement, and you should be, you know that you should always have a cloth tote on hand. Chloe has a great selection of funky ones all for about $32.

Chloe also has an excellent jewelry selection that seems to constantly change. Tay showed me a new line of rings by Pitango. Each one unique, these are handcrafted by a guy in NY who travels the world for the semi-precious stones and turns them into big & chunky pieces like the one pictured here. Chloe also carries designers Lisa Levine and Erickson Beamon.

Be on the lookout, too, for a new line of denim. Tay plans to introduce several styles by Rich & Skinny, and you don’t have to be either to get a pair.

As she implements these fresh changes and gets ready for new lines, you can grab up some Tory Burch merch at 50% off right now!

Drumroll please….

Vicky is offering CvilleStyle two invitations to a champagne brunch planned for mid-July. Other upcoming, invitation-only events include an evening cocktails soiree in early August and a Fall Relaunch party later in September. These events are to introduce her customers to the new lines and give selected clients access to her sample sales.

The contest is easy. Comment here (with your email address so I can contact you) and give us one sentence to describe your summer style. We’ll pick the winner in a couple of weeks to accompany us to the party.

Chloe is also is giving every CvilleStyle reader 10% off anything in the store!! Just print out the coupon below or mention CvilleStyle in store and have fun shopping!

My style this summer consists of the same pair of dockers pants and blue jeans that I wore over the fall and winter. BUT! I cut the pants right above the knees to turn them into shorts! And I will rarely wash either so I can give them that extra little flare and character. If I can’t convince my mom to buy me new sneakers, I’ll probably rock the same beat-up old citrus colored Nikes that I got last summer. I’ll probably finish of my ensembles with a shirt purchased from either SPCA Rummage, Antics(If I make the good tips!), or from local screen printer Thomas Dean. Oh, I’ll also rock a messenger bag I got at K-mart a couple of years ago.

I just adore this Web site! Thank you for creating it and keeping us fashionistas in the know.

And thanks for the info on Chloe. I’m new to the area, so I’m trying to learn more about all of the fun boutiques in town. I’ll be at the upcoming VIP event for sure! (What girl doesn’t want a great sale, cocktails and a VIP goodie bag?)

I love reading your blogs. Keep up the great work, Cvillestyle!!!

I love the accessories at Chloe…but to be honest, the clothes are displayed in such a way that I find it hard to browse the racks. I guess I need looks “pushed” at me and I don’t like to “page” through the merch.

  11. Haidee Cline on June 26th, 2008 7:32 pm

Interesting. I hadn’t thought about it that way. You must not be a fan of TJ Maxx! I’ll take your comment as an entry into the contest :)

  12. Kate on June 27th, 2008 12:02 pm

    My summer style…anything lime green.

  13. TheUpstart on June 27th, 2008 1:30 pm

You must not be a fan of TJ Maxx!

I can’t stand the middle of any of those stores. I stay on the perimeter…handbags, shoes, and home goods.

Maybe it’s a hold over from my grad years when I worked in retail. Those racks where were you’d get “hanger goo” on your hands (black stuff). I hated sizing or putting any of those racks in order.

    Hey “TheUpstart”:
When was the last time you were in Chloe?? It’s been revamped in both the merchadise and the merchandising. I personally invite you to come in and see the changes!

Are scarves really in this summer? Seems like it’s way too hot but they do look cute with the little dress.

  20. Haidee Cline on July 11th, 2008 2:03 pm

Good point, Shannon, but I think that these are actually great for summer. Perfect for visits up north when it actually gets chilly at night. Also great for going out to a restaurant or theater where you can’t be sure if they’ll be blasting the AC. Vicky wore hers around her neck with a white tank and it looked fabulous.

  21. Amy Gawtry on July 12th, 2008 9:14 pm

I love Vicky and I love her new store. I am a big fan. I just bought a pair of great pants there and a beautiful summer dress that fits beautifully. I wish I could have bought the whole store!

My summer style…comfort is key but anything goes. I am outside a lot so comfy shorts and a tank or breezy sun dresses make me smile. A bathing suit tucked into my bag is key as well.

All my best to you guys!

    Amy Gawtry

  23. Haidee Cline on July 14th, 2008 6:53 pm

Amy - thanks for sharing your thoughts! Did you go to the event on Sunday? Chloe will be having more events in the future. Make sure Vicky has you on the mailing list!

  24. Ty Cooper on July 30th, 2008 8:12 pm

It seems like I am following you and Shannon. This is my first time on CvilleStyle, so as I explore where the fashion icons of C’ville (lol) are hanging out, you keep popping up. When is the next Chloe party? I am from New York and have attended plenty of boutique gatherings and the pics have me home sick. I am loving Charlottesville, though. Haven’t had the opportunity to really hang out because of the new business, EcoDry Cleaners. Post the party date

  25. Haidee Cline on July 30th, 2008 11:15 pm

Ty - glad to meet you! Chloe will be having another soiree next month and later in the fall. I’ll get the details out when they are available. I’ve heard about the EcoDry Cleaners…definitely want to know more! Perfect place to take our very stylish clothes!

  26. Ty Cooper on July 31st, 2008 8:10 am

Gotcha, I will wait for the date. Is it an open invite or closed? Just let me know when you can. Thanks, for everything, Haidee.
