Peek inside a retro Richmond home

July 21, 2008 by Haidee

I love peeking inside real homes for ideas and inspiration. ThisYoungHouse, a blog from our neighboring city, offered its readers a peek into one of Richmond’s quintessential 1940s bungalows. The homeowner is also the owner of Richmond’s hip and trendy secondhand store, Clementine’s. I can see that her style extends beyond the closet!

The style looks like a page out of Domino, inspired by bold patterns and colors. I love the infusion of contemporary design and bright colors into a traditional setting. Check out the rest of the tour here on ThisYoungHouse.

I’ve been following This Young House for a while and I find it so refreshing to see homes that people actually live in on a decor blog. I love some of the big ones (Cote de Texas, Brown Design, Absolutely Beautiful Things…), but they sometimes seem a little too perfect.

I’d love to see the homes of young-ish Charlottesville people…maybe we could try to do an online house tour (anonymous, for those who want to protect their identities, of course).

If you do homes of youngish Cvillians, you gotta see Richard Bloom’s adorably modern Scottville pad.

I would love to feature some local homes and intend on reaching out to a few that have been recommended to me. Shannon - can you get me in touch w/ Mr. Bloom?
