Buy-one-get-one-free sale at Gentle Gardener! Stock on your pots!

July 23, 2008 by Haidee

I made a trip to Gordonsville this afternoon to check out one of my favorite garden stores in the area, The Gentle Gardener.  Sadly, they are closing their retail location. Happily, they are having a buy one, get one for free sale on everything in the store!

I stocked up on several blue glazed pots, something I’ve been swooning over for some time but always felt they were slightly more than I wanted to pay. I also purchased a lion head fountain spout for a little water feature on our deck as well as some terra cotta pots and river rocks. Such a deal!

I do not claim to be a master gardener by any means, but I do try to make our backyard a peaceful retreat. Browsing through garden stores inspires me! I love perusing the aisles of flowers and beautiful containers for ideas. Most garden stores also have adorable shops with shabby chic accessories.

In addition to the Gentle Gardener, I also like The Garden Spot (515 W. Rio). Their super nice staff is always willing to spend an hour with me and answer all my pesky questions! They also carry Guy Wolff pottery. I have no idea why this is so expensive (well, it is handmade), but they are gorgeous containers.

The Ivy Nursery (Rt 250 West) is also a beautiful garden shop. The staff there is also very knowledgeable and I remember a particularly great selection of bulbs. The alliums I purchased there shot up to a surprising three feet in a big burst of purple.

If you are into gardening, then you must know about a local blog called Life in Sugar Hollow. In addition to local gardening tips, she has some gorgeous images and stories about her own garden. I don’t think I’ll ever be that gung-ho, but there is nothing like a sale on beautiful gardening accoutrements to get me digging!

I’m a novice, so please chime in and tell me about other great garden shops!
