Tour a Picture Perfect Bunglow in the Heart of Charlottesville
August 31, 2008 by Haidee · 2 Comments
I recently had the pleasure of touring a charming and impeccably-designed 1927 bungalow in the heart of Charlottesville. First spotted on her walking route, the house immediately caught Lynn Garnett’s attention. She and her husband kept an eye on it until, one day, they saw a For Sale By Owner sign and decided to move just 1/2 mile and make the quaint Arts & Crafts style home their own.

I generally think of wine in simple terms: if i’m eating a steak I’ll go for a red, on a summer night I might select a crisp white, and if it doesn’t come in a box, its fair game. Blends and varietals factor into my selections, but regional qualities float over my head, and when it comes to experiencing “hints of mahogany” and “flavors of nectarine,” I couldn’t be less aware.

Between the Sheets

I figured I might as well continue on my, “I just moved into a new apartment” theme (so if you were hoping for a spicy article on getting hot & heavy between the sheets, look elsewhere!).

I’m simply looking for a fun, fresh set of bed linens.
Socks and Sandals: The Final Solution
August 21, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 19 Comments
Every Tuesday, I pick up a crisp, new C-Ville Weekly and read it play Sudoku. Then I turn to the last page and peruse The Rant. Since I moved to this lovely hamlet, reading the Rant clued me in to some of the dramz going down in C’ville. A real newcomer’s guide, if you will. And one thing that kept popping up was this “Don’t/do wear socks with sandals” thing. For years. Well, folks, I’m ending this debate (or popping the can wide open, again) once and for all. Here’s your guide to when it’s appropriate to wear open toed footwear with fabric designed to cover those distal extremeties we call toes (if you’re a toddler or really old, these rules do not apply to you).
