SCARPA Sale: 60% and Rising
August 20, 2008 by Ashley Simpson
You don’t have to be shoe-obsessed to appreciate the selection at Scarpa. With metallic flats by Bernardo and Claudia Cuiti, geometric pumps by Taryn Rose, and hand-crafted Lucchese cowboy boots, the Barracks Road boutique strikes a playful balance between Big City chic and local taste.
This week, you won’t need to have deep pockets to indulge in Scarpa’s sophisticated collection either. As you may well be aware, the store is currently holding their annual Imelda Marcos sale. The way it works is simple: anything in its box (i.e. the majority of the store) is marked down. The markdown started at 50% several weeks ago, is at 60% at the moment, and by this weekend, will rise to 75%
That’s right. 75% off. I might actually get those blue-denim Tibi’s I’ve been lusting over.
So…will you be hitting the Scarpa sale? Check out their website for a taste of their current line-up.
And, while we’re on topic, any recommendations for less prominent places to find creative, high-quality shoes in Cville? Scarpa is the obvious choice (voted “Best Place to Buy Women’s Shoes” for the umpteenth year in a row by Cville Weekly readers), but it can’t be the only show in town. As a recent returnee to Charlottesville, I’m curious to hear where you find your footwear.
Let me know.

Scarpa is pretty much the go-to place for unique shoes, but I’ve seen some cute ones at Duo. Belk also has a nice variety, including Kate Spade and BCBG brands.
Thanks, Steph! I’ll have to check out Belk’s selection sometime soon. As for Duo, I definitely agree - I went in for the first time a few weeks ago and noticed some fun Jeffrey Campbell flats on the first floor, along with a couple pairs of cute used heels upstairs. Although I’m a little hesitant to purchase pre-worn shoes (the last pair I bought broke on the subway ride home…), I’ll be sure keep Duo in mind
