O’Suzannah’s New Digs

August 27, 2008 by HeatherM

Virginia Woolf wanted a room with a view.  O’Suzannah’s owner just wanted a better view of her room.

And now she has it.  The local shop selling all-things-good is up and running in its new location on 4th Street NE on the downtown mall (up the street from Five Guys & Enoteca).

In her old space on 2nd Street, while “quaint” (read: tight squeeze), you might have felt like a bull in a china shop, fearful of knocking over a display.  In her new digs, you’re more apt to be singing “The hills are alive” and doing pirouettes like Maria.  Ok, not exactly, but the new space is soooo much roomier!

The store is arranged by color, with soft greens and yummy yellows, pale oranges and ocean blues, royal purples and regal reds…you get the idea. The effect is very soothing.  The merchandising is mesmerizing; you could stand in front of each “color post” for a long time, trying to soak in all of the offerings.  From candles and soaps to aprons, rugs, bags, jewelry, books, table top items, and a myriad of paper goods: it is the perfect place to find a gift (for you or someone else!).

The baby space is greatly enlarged, taking up the entire back room.  It even houses a couch, casually referred to as “the man couch: a place for the men to sit while the women are shopping.”  Nice touch.

So stop by & check out their new space.  You can also follow O’Suzannah’s blog to keep track of what’s new in store.

Here are a few of my favorite items that I spied with my little eye:

Sassy Cards by Whimsy Press, such as “Build a Bridge. Get Over It.” and “Save the Drama for your Mama:”

Thomas Paul Melamine Coasters:

Bella Muse Stationery, such as “Sweetie Pie” and “Shoe Whore:”

Vilmain Branches Candlestick holders:

Smack of Jellyfish cardline (now I know I never want to run into a “Crash of Rhinoceros” nor a “Scourge of Mosquitos,” but a “Flutter of Butterflies” and a “Watch of Nightingales” sound awfully romantic:

HeatherM, a big thank you for the update. O’Suzannah has been my go-to for unique cards, gifts, and jewelry. A true gem of a store. Great info and even better to know they’re open in their new location!
