That’s Debatable…
October 16, 2008 by HeatherM
As many worthy debates abound (Barack vs. John,
the Chicken vs. the Egg,
Mary Kate vs. Ashley,
Skinny Jeans vs. Boyfriend Jeans,
Tastes Great vs. Less Filling,
Vanilla vs. Chocolate,
Joe Six Pack vs. Joe the Plumber, etc.),
it begs the quintessential Charlottesville debate:
the Downtown Mall vs. the Corner—which is your favorite place to hang out and why?

Oooooh.
Obama, Chicken, Neither, Skinny Jeans, Taste’s Great, BOTH!, Joe Six Pack, and……THE MALL. Better parking, better food, more choices, and music venues!
Downtown….too many college students and too little parking! Music dwntwn is a big bonus.
Downtown. Better crowd (read: not underage and overdressed), better food, drinks, and music.
I wouldn’t ever go out to the corner on a Saturday night, but I lunch there and appreciate that the corner has some great restaurants. Also I like Duo and Finch- stores that I think some non-UVa people forget about because they are tucked away on the Corner. For nightlight though, Downtown is my pick.
Heather, really? The corner is fun every now and then, but it doesn’t have a lot of good food and the bars and not as good as on the mall.
In defense of the corner, it does have the mall beat in terms of affordability… and with the economy sliding down the drain, cheap carries some weight.
(Nevertheless, it’s hard to argue against ‘better food, drinks,’ etc… the mall appeals to such a broader group of people than UVA’s home base.)
