Cvillestyle Holiday Etiquette

December 22, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 8 Comments

Oh joy! The holiday season is in full swing. Lighting the Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, the scent of mulling spices, and people getting trampled at Walmart. What a wonderful time of year.

Having recently braved the crowds, traffic, and endless ring of the Salvation Army bell, I was inspired to write this article to help all of us brush up on our holiday etiquette.

Cvillestyle poll: Hot or not?

November 28, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 3 Comments

I recently visited my fun and fashionable best friend in the equally fun and fantastic town of Nashville, TN.  While the city received a big (cowboy) hats off for a great time, I was somewhat perplexed with a few of the fashion choices displayed by our southern comrades.  Most perplexing was this:

The fingerless glove.  A.k.a. Hobo gloves.  They are apparently all the rage.  They caught my eye because just about everyone I saw was wearing them, and I got the distinct pleasure of the wool/cashmere/skin combo whilst being introduced to some of the natives.  I can’t decide if it’s a no-no like this or if I really like it.  What do you think? Must-Have for Fall: Wiley Brothers Belts

October 6, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 3 Comments

Classic style is my favorite.  For one, it’s timeless, so it’ll never go out of style, and secondly, it’s smart.  The recent economic downturn has me definitely watching my wallet, so while I’m not buying this,  you might see me buying one of these.   Similarly, classic accessories are a worthwhile buy, and if you’re a supporter of local business, you’re in luck:  Wiley Brothers Belts.

Saying Goodbye to Summer

September 13, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 3 Comments

Just as the mornings started to smell like fall, a hot and humid Saturday reminded me it was still technically summer.  As anxious as I am to bid the sticky summer season goodbye, I know when the frigid wet cold of winter hits, I’ll wish it were summer once again.  Before I rush to don my tweed slacks and Barbour coat, I’ll be hanging on to the last few days of summer until fall officially begins on September 22, 2008 at 11:44 am EDT.

Socks and Sandals: The Final Solution

August 21, 2008 by Ouiser Boudreaux · 19 Comments

Socks and Sandals by Phoebelline.

Every Tuesday, I pick up a crisp, new C-Ville Weekly and read it play Sudoku.  Then I turn to the last page and peruse The Rant.  Since I moved to this lovely hamlet, reading the Rant clued me in to some of the dramz going down in C’ville.  A real newcomer’s guide, if you will.  And one thing that kept popping up was this “Don’t/do wear socks with sandals” thing.  For years.  Well, folks, I’m ending this debate (or popping the can wide open, again) once and for all.  Here’s your guide to when it’s appropriate to wear open toed footwear with fabric designed to cover those distal extremeties we call toes (if you’re a toddler or really old, these rules do not apply to you).
