Planning a wedding? You’re in luck. This past Tuesday, October 28th, individuals from Rock, Paper, Scissors, Hedge Fine Blooms, Jason Keefer Photography, and Real Food, among others, gathered for the first time to talk wedding aesthetics, share professional styles, and of course, socialize – all in hopes of further preparing themselves to help Charlottesville’s brides-to-be.
CvilleStyle talks with Debbie Crosby-Louis, Image Consultant

If you’ve ever watched TLC’s What Not To Wear, you’ve had the pleasure of viewing Stacey and Clinton siege, what I would characterize as, a style “take-over.” Playing the part of personal image consultants, the charismatic duo select (aesthetically clueless?) clients, “constructively” criticize their wardrobe, and go on to turn their style around, giving them the tips and personal attention necessary to transform any fashion-inept wallflower into style-empowered “maven.” The end result: a triumphant and dramatic, (albeit streamlined), style metamorphosis. What Not To Wear becomes “what to wear.”
Pretty in Pink

One in eight women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime. That should be enough of a reason to join the fight, so feel into your girly-girl side and don some pink—October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Stop by Panera Bread for a Pink Ribbon Bagel, a portion of sales throughout the month of October will be donated to the UVA Breast Care Program. There, you can also purchase a silicone ring (the next generation from those silicone bracelets) for $1.
Mavens of Style - The Students

There’s much to be said about the ways of the fashion world, but when the mirror gets turned toward Charlottesville, VA - not necessarily considered the fashion capital of–well–anywhere - it was a pleasant surprise to find that even in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains, people are not marking the passing of the season with a cookie cutter look they bought head-to-toe off the mannequin at their hometown department store. Students, especially.
No, my friends, in fact quite the contrary. Last week, two members of my team set out on the task of finding those who “dared” to have their own style. Not those, as you are probably imagining, with an aggressive sensibility - but people you see across the room and want to get to know - dare I say - want to be.
Boar’s Head Spa Review: A Man’s Experience
September 12, 2008 by Francesco · 2 Comments

I was delighted to finally try a Charlottesville spa last week. My first spa experience was in Hua-Hin, Thailand, at the ultra-lux spa resort, Chiva Som. Thailand’s trophy spa consistently ranks in the top 10-15 spas in the world. My day there was unique and the setting was absolutely beautiful. From Thailand I ventured into mainland China during the spa craze that hit Beijing about two years ago. You can’t throw a stone in that city anymore without breaking a spa window.
And now I can add Charlottesville to my list of global spa pursuits. To be quite honest, my visit at Boar’s Head Spa trumps all of my other experiences. Yes that’s right, we have our own little Chiva Som down 250, and I will tell you why.
Weekend Scene Events: Tough Choice!
It’s either a good thing or a bad thing that we have to decide between two fundraiser events this Friday. Lighthouse has their 7th Annual Youth Film Festival and the 2nd Annual Emmalyn Miller Event will raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia.
