The second annual Emmalyn Miller event was held on Friday, September 12, 2008 at Farmington Country Club. Featuring a silent auction and music by Kendra & the Kingpins, the event raised funds to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia. Guests heard from Carrie Miller, Emmalyn’s mother, and other speakers about the effects of Epilepsy and the need for increased awareness and education.

Weekend Scene Events: Tough Choice!
It’s either a good thing or a bad thing that we have to decide between two fundraiser events this Friday. Lighthouse has their 7th Annual Youth Film Festival and the 2nd Annual Emmalyn Miller Event will raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia.

This is a very busy weekend coming up. I’ve highlighted a few below, but please send me more and I’ll update it here.
Have fun. Be responsible. And don’t forget your Dad.
Festival of the Photograph June 12 -14. While the ticketed events appear to be sold out, you can still enjoy the exhibits featured during these “three days of peace, love, and photography.”
“Through the Garden Gate” Saturday, June 14 9am - 12pm. Stroll through the private gardens of two private Ivy Homes as part of the Charlottesville Garden Club April - Sept tour. Sunday, I will attempt to recreate the garden oasis in my teeny, tiny, desert-like yard. $5 per person
Pink Ribbon Polo Cup Saturday, June 14. Gates open at 10:00am. A charitable and stylish polo event in the gorgeous setting of King Family Vineyards. Benefiting breast cancer research, the event includes music, wine tasting, and divot stomping. Tickets are available online until tomorrow (Tues) and at the Embarq store until Wed. You can also buy a $25 general admissions ticket at the gate. A perfect opportunity to don your Lilly Pulitzer.

Starry Nights at Veritas Vineyards. Saturday, June 14 7:00pm. One of my favorite summertime events. The first of four evenings, Starry Nights at Veritas is like a massive picnic with gourmet food, stupendous wine, and live music. I even got my husband out on the dancefloor a few times last summer. You’re sure to see me out there again. Reservations for dinner might be full, but you can bring your own basket and pay $10 at the door. These might come in handy…I have invested in a set myself!
Second Annual 80s Prom. Saturday, June 14 8pm - 2am. I’m afraid I can’t miss Veritas, but this does sound like fun. I’d use any excuse to wear a big bow on my hip. Benefiting Planned Parenthood, this should be one helluva time with a DJ, balloon arch and even a prom court. Please take pics and send them to me. I’m working on a post advocating an 80s fashion revival. Tickets are $10 at the door. I have a fabulous hot pink poofy sleeve get up if anyone needs a dress to borrow.
Take Main Street to Italy and up the stairs to Spain
Who knew that you could explore foreign lands right from a little coffee shop on Main Street? Indeed, you can with Spain on Main and Ecco Italy…
Starry Nights at Veritas
Charlottesville in the summer is heaven. Vineyards, polo games, weekend drives through the countryside, croquet…I like to fill my calendar with activities that conjur up the feeling that I am in some Town & Country magazine spread. Read more
